As of August 12, the PPWR is officially in effect across all 27 EU member states.

For our industry, this means ALL packaging matters. From the poly bags, hang tags, and dust bags to the outer shipping cartons—everything is now under strict regulation.

Here are the 4 immediate requirements we all need to be aware of to avoid customs holds:

1️⃣ Heavy Metal Limits  All packaging must have a total concentration of lead, cadmium, mercury, and hexavalent chromium ≤ 100mg/kg.

2️⃣ Zero PFAS in Food Packaging  Strict PFAS bans for food contact packaging. (Less relevant for us, but good to know!)

3️⃣ EPR Registration  You must register individually for each destination country. One number does not cover the whole EU.

4️⃣ Declaration of Conformity (DoC)  A valid DoC and technical documentation are now mandatory. Without them, platforms will delist your products.
